A few pictures...

Here's a few pictures of us last Saturday between birthday parties, basketball games and church stuff. Paul and I had some free time with just Gabe while Emma napped. And check out the bottom left - sitting up! We're stil a little wobbly, but it's getting closer. He's so much happier to be off of his back. And then, last but not least, Gabe's favorite pasttime of pulling his sister's hair!!!

Flying with Daddy

Oh, to be a kid again and get thrown up in the air and have complete trust in your father catching you! This is one of Em's favorite things to do with Paul and we've had some nice weather so she's gotten to do it outside, where he can throw her even higher! I must admit, mama has a bit of a scare when they play it! But I look at her, so high and free, looks like she's floating or flying and Paul is there waiting to catch her. How I wish I could remember this on a daily basis with my Heavenly Father - to just fly and let Him catch me. He is there with arms outstretched and I would prefer to keep my feet planted on solid ground because I can control that and I don't have to worry so much about falling there. But, the faith of a child, that's what He calls me to have - to blindly trust Him. To fly and be caught.

Naptime

It's naptime at our house. Notice Emma, miss "3 year olds don't take naps," reading in her bed. I give her 20 more minutes before she crashes. This new system has been working well for me - she reads for a while and then lays down and falls asleep, she doesn't like to feel pushed into it!
The big news with Gabe? He's sleeping through the night! Whoo hoo! It's been 2 nights now and I don't know what to do with myself! Last night he went to bed at 7:00 and we didn't hear him this morning until 7:15!
So, the real question would be, why in the heck I'm sitting on the computer and getting nothing done during naptime...oops.

I just couldn't help but post this picture of Gaber! I think he looks so stinkin' cute! Thankfully, he's about over his cold and almost back to normal. He started eating some cereal this week (hopefully it will help him sleep!!!), so we've all been excited about that! He's just growing up so fast! Almost 6 months old!

We survived!

I just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who checked on me as I said goodbye to Dara. It was so touching to have so many people reach out to me. Thank you!
We did survive that dreaded Tuesday. Paul was so kind to take the day off so I could spend as much time as possible with Dara and not be tied down with two kids. However, it was his first day at home with two all by himself. It was not a great day for him (ask him about Em's bloody nose!), needless to say he will not be leaving the work force to become a stay-at-home daddy anytime soon! It was a nice gesture though and I am grateful to him for his understanding and kind heart! Anyway, we all went to the airport at around 4:30 and Emma and Dara walked all over having some last minute time together. I think I'd better look out, because it wasn't so much Dara leaving that Em was upset by, but the fact that she couldn't go with her to "Canifornia!" Dara is doing fabulous in L.A., as expected. She has already landed a movie role and a job with a C.P.A. through tax season. The movie is with Mosaic films (the production company at her church) and she plays a firefighter trying to rescue people stuck on an elevator! She is living with a friend for now, but is actively looking for her own place so any prayers there would be appreciated! I have done well with everything - I am so proud of her and can't wait for my turn to go visit her! Don't worry, she's saving the trip to Laguna Beach for me! The only time we get sad is when Emma and I discuss her being there and Em, very matter-of-factly tells me, "she'll be back soon, Mama." No, Emma, I'm afraid not...

Here's his smile!

I had to post one of him smiling because it's so darn cute! He's watching his sister be totally goofy here, a guaranteed crack-up for him! He gets to belly laughing at her about twice a day! His favorite thing to do is lay on her bed while she jumps on it! Scary, I know - but she makes these silly faces at him and he is in hog heaven watching her bounce up and down!

Another round of pictures...

So, it's a long story, but a good friend got us another round of pictures at the studio that did them on Emma's birthday - we thought we'd see if we could get a smile out of Gabers this time! Not quite, but we still got some good pictures of them both, I thought! I love him in his overalls with no shirt!
